01. Scan A Wall Drawing

Set Curious

Scan a Wall Drawing lets the user magically unlock a trove of information by using AI to scan LeWitt’s wall drawings. It’s the highlight feature of the experience, we want all types of users to have the most chance to explore it. How to make sure the experience balances well the client’s goal and the user expectation for each entry path? How can we make the scan happens “Magically“?

Solution

1.Collaborate with Museum to Hang signage on the entrance and next to the Wall Drawing and provide location detail and museum detail on the scan artwork list detail page.

2. Provide a juicy scannable artwork list.

3. Design the delightful scanning animation to highlight the experience.

02. Virtual Studio Tour

Be immersive, Be joyful

The virtual studio tour is the 360 capture of LeWitt’s Chester Studio with related stories to unfold a very super in-depth and personal experience. The challenge for this section is to let the UI invisible as much as possible meanwhile guide the user to finish the exploration. We land with the minimal UI design with the number that indicates how many stories left to help the user have a deep dive to the artist’s work and life.

03. Mapping LeWitt

Unfold deeply

MAPPING LEWITT section visualizes LeWitt’s art, story, and art collection on a geography level. It’s level 3 experience which means more “research-based” and more deep. The challenge here is how might we unfold a series of research documents in a way that can be visually clear and content-wise juice? The solution is to collaborate with the researcher to rearrange the academic documentary in a timeline-based navigation structure, in order to unfold the content in both the geo and time level.

04. Work Themes

Touch the spirit

The Work Themes is the most research-heavy experience in the App, is the level 4 experience. In this section, we want the expert level user to have a wonderful wonder meanwhile, the tourist lever user can get interested in it as well. The challenge is how can we explain LeWitt’s complex creative process, like seriality and geometric shapes in an easy understanding but academically accurate way?

Solution 1

Collaborate with the researcher to write the scripts and break the complex content into explanatory animations.

Solution 2

Use a series of documentaries from the artist, including quotes, images, audio&video records to tell each work theme story, and use Index and various transitions to make the story efficient and joyful.
